Leonard, the fruit fly trap that has always worked for me and friends is to put some red wine in a jar and create a paper funnel with a very small opening pointing down toward the wine then tape it onto the jar really well. Within 2-3 days it should have trapped many of your flies. I know it is similar to the solution you discussed, but the funnel and wine I think make a big difference!

I live in an old brownstone with old radiators. i can't open or close the valves. But my LL gives too much heat - my room temp goes past 90 degrees sometimes. What can I do?

I read that you shouldn't lower your thermostat if you have radiators. It doesn't save energy. Have you heard this? I have steam radiators.
Many thanks.
