Wednesday, June 11, 2014

John Cameron Mitchell was on The Leonard Lopate Show with Denis O'Hare to talk about his new performance adapting Nabokov for a reading. He also told us about his favorite Broadway play this season and his love of Barry Manilow. Find out what else he's a fan of!

What have you read or seen over the past year (Book, play, film, etc...) that moved or surprised you?

The film Ida was the most exquisite thing I've seen in a couple of years. And Twelfth Night on Broadway was my favorite Shakespeare production ever. It was proof positive that William was a big old queen.

What are you listening to right now?

Phox, a delightfully sophisticated pop ensemble from Wisconsin. The lead vocalist/songwriter Monica is a new star

What's the last great book you read?

Pale Fire by Nabokov. Nonfiction essays on The Fan Who Knew Too Much: Aretha Franklin, the Rise of the Soap Opera, Children of the Gospel Church and other Meditations by Anthony Heilbut

What's one thing you're a fan of that people might not expect?

         Barry Manilow

What's your comfort food?

         Akesson 75% Brazilian chocolate
