Guest Picks: Daniel Boulud

Friday, October 18, 2013

Chef Daniel Boulud was recently on the Leonard Lopate Show to talk about his gorgeous new cookbook, Daniel. He shared with us a few of the things he likes to do when he's not in the kitchen, including his love of fast cars!

What have you read or seen over the past year that moved or surprised you?

I loved Silver Linings Playbook – DeNiro and Cooper had such a natural relationship.

What are you listening to right now?

The Killers – I saw them a month ago at a concert in Singapore and am still carrying their tunes

What’s the last great book you read?

One Soufflé at a Time: A Memoir of Food and France –  The life story of Anne Willan who fell in love with French cuisine and created La Varenne cooking school, and has made some of the best French country cooking.

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

Formula One racing – I have a need for speed and fast cars.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

A one pot meal with a braised meat and lots of vegetables. I have a whole cookbook on the subject.
