Gig Alert: Marcel, Rami, and Bachar Khalife at The Town Hall
The Lebanese composer Marcel Khalife has spent the past three decades creating music that blends Western classical, Arab classical, and jazz. He plays the oud, the Arab lute, and has been named a UNESCO Artist For Peace. Musical talent runs in the family: Marcel’s son Rami is a pianist and composer, and a Juilliard graduate; his son Bachar is a percussionist and composer. His other collaborators include the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, who remained a beacon in Khalife’s long creative life. Tonight Marcel Khalife joins his sons Rami and Bachar in a concert contemplating Darwish’s sensual vision, "Sounds for a New Golden Age," at Town Hall, presented by ADC.
