For forty years, the Kronos quartet has been championing contemporary composers and remaking the string quartet in their own ultracool image. Their current project, "50 For The Future," will be a collection of brand new works by 50 diverse composers representing much of the world. Among the composers writing for Kronos is the Serbian-born American-based Alexandra Vrebalov, who wrote this piece, "My Desert, My Rose."
Kronos Quartet and their proteges in the band Face The Music are playing for two nights in WNYC’s Greene Space. Tonight is sold out, but they've added a second show tomorrow night at the Greene Space.
