Kristian Bezuidenhout & a fortepiano

Gig Alert: Kristian Bezuidenhout & Juilliard415 at Alice Tully Hall
Tickets: $20, 7:30pm, Alice Tully Hall

Mozart didn’t have access to the big thundering sound of the modern grand piano. He wrote his piano works for the fortepiano, an instrument that had a nimble, more intimate sound. The South African pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout is one of the leading performers on the fortepiano, and he’s now joining forces with Juilliard 415, the Juilliard-based group that plays on other instruments from the Baroque and early Classical periods.
Tonight, he and Juilliard 415 play works by Mozart, including Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, at Alice Tully Hall.
