Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto #1 is one of those classical music pieces that even non-classical music fans recognize. But you know who wouldn’t recognize it? Tchaikovsky. Because the version we all know was revised after his death. Tchaikovsky himself knew this earlier version of the piece, which is almost never heard now. Tonight at David Geffen Hall, pianist Kirill Gerstein will shine a light on this early edition of the piece in a concert with the NY Philharmonic.
