Gig Alert: Bearthoven at Le Poisson Rouge, Tues., April 18
Tickets: $20. 18+. Doors at 6PM, concert at 7:15PM
The trio known as Bearthoven have a kind of a jokey name, but they’re serious about what they’re doing. And what they’re doing is taking the old jazz piano trio lineup – you know, piano, bass and drums – and asking contemporary classical composers to write for that format. They’re about to release their first album, called simply Trios, in early May, and it’ll include a work written by Brooks Frederickson called "Undertoad" along with this work by Anthony Vine, "From a Forest of Standing Mirrors":
The trio known as Bearthoven are playing tomorrow night at Le Poisson Rouge.
