 Gabriel Garzón-Montano

Brooklyn-born multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Garzón-Montano has most likely worn out the grooves on his Stevie and Prince records, and studied key hip-hop beatmakers besides, in his detail-oriented soul-infused pop. Yet his influences may be rooted in his French-Colombian heritage as well, with styles extending to cumbia and classical music (his mother who was part of the Philip Glass ensemble in the 1990s.) On his debut, Jardín, Montano served as his own producer, crafting hip-hop soul built on funk pillars. Gabriel Garzón-Montano joins us in the studio to play some of these songs.
