Let's think back 50 years to what was then considered to be one of the sexiest industries for growth in the American manufacturing and engineering industries: Cars.

Fifty years ago this week, the Ford Motor Company unveiled the Mustang at the 1964 World's Fair. It would soon become the company's most successful model since the debut of the Model A.

Ford is remembering that glory day in the company's history this week.Of course, the automotive industry has undergone drastic changes since the Mustang came on the scene—everything from bail-outs to recalls and foreign competition have transformed American auto manufacturing.
