On March 18, recruit Raheel Siddiqui fell three stories to his death at Parris Island, a Marine Corps training depot in South Carolina.
In an investigation, officials claimed Siddiqui, a 20-year-old Muslim, committed suicide after hazing and abuse. His family, however, disputes that his death was a suicide.
Twenty Marine Corps personnel face possible discipline or criminal charges for multiple violations, including evidence that Siddiqui was physically abused by his drill sergeant.
Here & Now‘s Robin Young speaks with Gina Harkins of the Marine Corps Times about the case.
