The Singing Sergeants sing "It's a Grand Night for Singing."
The broadcast then goes to Hartley, Delaware and the story of the community's effort to build an observation post. The ladies of the community raised money through a bake sale. They earned $53.64. Additionally, members of the community sought donations to aid in the building. Members of the community volunteered to man the post as observers.
This short dramatic recreation is followed by The Singing Sergeants' rendition of "Jimmy Crack Corn."
