Tomorrow at 9:00 AM Pacific time, jazz artist Esperanza Spalding will head into the studio with her to make a new album. However, instead of going in with songs prepared and arranged, the entire session will be improvised.

Spalding and her collaborators have no music prepared, and what is ultimately added onto the album will be the result of a 77-hour improv session. Fans can watch it all unfold live on her Facebook page.

Here, the Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter discusses some of the influences and inspiration behind her improvisational experiment. Click on the 'Listen' button above to hear the full conversation.

This segment is hosted by Todd Zwillich.
