And Atul Gawande, a surgeon and self-avowed music nut, talks with Andrew Bird, whose music Gawande plays in the operating room. Bird discusses “Puma,” a song about the radiation therapy his wife was given after she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and performs two numbers live.
