'We've Sort of Become Friends': The Original Tapes from David Foster Wallace's '96 Book Tour

On the Media | Aug 13, 2015

Brooke sat down with writer David Lipsky, whose "reporter tennis" interviews with author David Foster Wallace are dramatized in the film The End of The Tour. With the movie out in wide release this week, he and Brooke listen back to the original tapes Lipsky made over five days in 1996, and which formed the basis of his book Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace. They discuss the delicate bond the writers formed, and what it's like to hear his interview tapes acted out by Jesse Eisenberg (Lipsky) and Jason Segal (Wallace). Plus, their takes on Baywatch, success, and (yes) women.
