Tammy Kim, a writer and fact-checker at The New Yorker, suggests checking out videos by Maangchi, a middle-aged cookbook author, whose creations are the real thing.  Kim also recommends “Human Acts,” a novel by Han Kang that deals with a student massacre during South Korea’s democracy movement, in 1980; and Sleater-Kinney’s album “No Cities to Love,” which Kim says contains a lesson in millennial economics.
