Arthur Holland Michel, co-director of the Center for the Study of the Drone at Bard College, investigated how a small team of engineers built the first lethal Predator drone and created the basis for modern drone warfare during the months leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks. His article, “A History of Violence: How Rogue Techies Armed the Predator, Almost Stopped 9/11, and Accidentally Invented Remote War,” is published in the the January issue of Wired.
