It's illegal to threaten a sitting president, but did you know that violent threats toward major candidates and their families are also punishable by law?

Gothamist reported an incident in October wherein a 28-year-old named Greg Chang was escorted out of a Williamsburg bar by police. The officers said they learned that he'd made a remark to a friend about wanting to harm Donald Trump, and they spent the next few hours trying to determine if that was a "true threat."
