Disenrollment Threatens Native American Identity

Three years ago, the process of disenrollment began for more than 306 members of the Nooksack Native American tribe in the northwest part of Washington State. Since that time, tribal members have been fighting the process—they're desperate to avoid what they refer to as tribal identity theft.

It's a question of belong that Gabriel Galanda is fighting for. He's a tribal lawyer in Seattle and council for the 306. He's also a member of the Round Valley Indian Tribe.
