‘In a Different Key’: A Personal Look at the History of Autism

In the nineteen-thirties, a Mississippi man named Donald Triplett became the first person ever to be diagnosed with autism. The journalists Caryn Zucker and John Donvan tracked down Triplett and wrote about him in their new book “In a Different Key: The Story of Autism.” The topic is personal for them, as it is for The New Yorker’s David Remnick.
