Some Haitians have chosen for volunteer repatriation before the start of the deportations of those who do not comply with the Dominican National Reorganization Plan for Foreigners.

A recent set of laws, decrees, and a court ruling threatens the deportation of tens if not hundreds of thousands of undocumented Haitian migrants, and even their Dominican-born children. Human rights groups and the foreign press have said the policies have created a humanitarian crisis. Maria Isabel Soldevila is editor-in-chief of the leading Dominican newspaper Listin Diario. She talks to Bob about how the media - including her own organization - have defaulted to a kind of resentful nationalism in the face of international criticism.
