Kaya Genç, a novelist and essayist from Istanbul, joins us to discuss his book Under the Shadow: Rage and Revolution in Modern Turkey. He interviews activists from both sides of Turkey's political divide and asks whether the “New Turkey” is a good place to live and work. He also speaks with censored journalists, conservative writers, investors and young Islamic entrepreneurs, all while reflecting on the history, politics and mythology rooted in the days of the Ottoman Empire.
