The True Inventor Of Moving Pictures?

The Leonard Lopate Show | Sep 19, 2017

Cognitive neuroscientist Jonathan Skariton joins us to discuss his debut novel Séance Infernale. The novel presupposes that movies weren’t the invention of Thomas Edison or the Lumiére brothers, but instead, created by a mysterious man named Augustin Sekuler. The adventure begins in 2002 when an art collector named Andrew Valdano tells Alex Whitman, a movie memorabilia expert, that Sekuler’s only feature film, Séance Infernale, may exist in pieces scattered throughout Europe.

Jonathan Skariton will appear for reading/talk with his editor, Victoria Wilson, at Mysterious Bookshop (58 Warren St., between W. Broadway and Church St.) on Sept. 21st at 6:30 p.m. Wine and cheese will be served.
