The two-week sleep team challenge has begun. Follow along and Clock Your Sleep. The WNYC hosts leading the sleep teams are: Manoush Zomorodi, host of New Tech City and captain of sleep team Digital Detox, Brooke Gladstone, host of On the Media, PJ Vogt, associate producer of On the Media, co-creator of TLDR, and co-captain of Vice Squad and John Hockenberry, host of The Takeaway and captain of team Rock Your Routine. They report on their team's progress.

Amy, listen to Manoush's program--it's only since the 19th century and gas light, followed eventually by electricity.

I don't think light has messed w/our sleep since forever--only since we started messing w/light! We've only had light (any brighter than the full moon) during nighttime since we discovered how to make fire (on purpose), & it was even longer before we could travel fast enough to have jet lag.

YES! Eye masks are great, especially on the train! Amazingly calming. I also recommend having a "slow wake-up" routine ... other stuff
