Chinese Americans Express Frustration Over Liang Conviction

The Brian Lehrer Show | Feb 23, 2016

Many Chinese Americans have been protesting around the country, in reaction to the conviction of former NYPD officer Peter Liang in the shooting death of Akai Gurley.

John Liu, former New York City Comptroller and 2013 candidate for mayor, says the protests are calling for equal justice.

"I think it’s important for people to understand that Asian Americans don’t think that Peter Liang is innocent…but people really feel that, to say it was manslaughter is just way too much."

Liu explained these recent protests are not just about Peter Liang; it’s about the long-held frustrations of Asian Americans.
