The NEA syndicate lined up Douglas Cooper with an interview of the Peanuts cartoonist, Charles Schulz. They spoke by phone; he at his home and nearby hockey rink in Santa Rosa, CA---Douglas at his college station in Hartford, CT.

Regrettably, after the Cooper Collection was moved about the country...i.e. Lawrenceville, New Jersey; Naples, FL; Seabrook Is., South Carolina; New Rochelle, New York...only one question and answer remained; It was the attached clip, edited for a Christmas radio special.

The Interview

One of the most compelling stories of his career was his submission of cartoon panels for his high school year book. When his work didn't appear, he was dumbfounded.

Undeterred, he said he now gets ‘annuals' asking for a contribution, and they’re piled from floor to ceiling! [What's more, he became a daily fixture in 2700+ daily newspapers and was voted the Congressional Gold Medal].
