World Cup soccer tournament in Brazil (Shutterstock.com/lazyllama)

On Monday we heard about how the U.S. will try to make its way in Brazil. Now, fans from anywhere else call in to talk about their team, their country, their style of play -- and how you'll be cheering on from NYC.

Show us Your Team Pride! WNYC and our LA sister station KPCC are gathering photos and stories that tell us how you chose your team, and why. Tag your photos #WorldCupSelfie on Twitter or Instagram, along with a little bit about why you are rooting for your team. We'll post our favorites later in the week.

I'm for Ghana!
As an American travelling in Ghana 21 years ago, the ONLY tv I watched was the Junior Black Stars defeating the Brazilian under 19 team in the Junior World Cup. They're the most energetic and creative African team.

Leading up to the world cup, the consensus on Portugal seems that we're putting our all our eggs in Ronaldo's basket. And historically, I think our small country does have an ideology of spotlighting our exceptional assets to sell our competitiveness.

But then I attended our friendly versus Ireland yesterday, and I stopped doubting our teamwork ability...
