Pride goeth, Jgarbuz. Not yours, the Empire's.

Two real-world examples come to mind:
A beautiful Q'tar skyscraper built on the waters edge, in this day of rising seas.
And the "Long Now" clock being built by silicon valley billionaires out of something like solid platinum.
Many others too...

Statistically that is a given -- that there would be a 1%. The question is, how big is the gap between the 1% and the next X percentiles?

The problem is that the gap has gotten to a ridiculous scale and the folks who have amassed this wealth are so obnoxious, and their wealth does not give them the right to do damage to what belongs to all of us -- nature.

The consequences are too important.

Bravo jgarbuz for boiling down a serious and complex societal issue into an idiotic diatribe.

The main plaything for today's newer generation of hi-tech billionaires is space, with all of them now in the rockets racket. Well, they do push the envelope with their antics and give muckrakers and actual journalists something to write about.

Since the dawn of civilization there has always been a top "1%" and always will be, and most of those muckrakers who make a living off class-envy are just buffoons and court jesters like your guest. The rest are neo-Bolsheviks.
