Bicycling Alone Across the Country

Wednesday, April 02, 2014

Bruce Weber tells us about his solo bicycle ride from coast to coast. During the summer and fall of 2011, at the age of 57, Weber, an obituary writer for The New York Times, made the trip, by himself, and wrote about it as it unfolded mile by mile. Life Is a Wheel, a diary of his journey, focuses on the challenges and rewards of self-reliance and strenuous physical effort, offers observations about cycling and America, and describes the pleasures of a three-thousand-calorie breakfast.
