The 141st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show wrapped up last night at New York City's Madison Square Garden with a crowd favorite winning Best in Show. Rumor, a 5-year-old German shepherd, came out of retirement in January and took the title of top dog before a cheering packed crowd.
She's the second German shepherd champion at the event that began in 1877.
Rumor beat an Irish setter called Adrian for the title. Behind Adrian were a Norwegian elkhound, a Pekingese, a miniature poodle, an Irish setter, a boxer and a Norwich terrier in the final ring. The finished second.
For two days, more than 2,700 dogs have strutted their stuff, showing off their breeding, as well as agility, personality, and obedience all while knocking out the competition to impress the judges and showing that they meet the best in the breed standard.
Rumor is named for the hit song "Rumor Has It" by Adele, who had her own victory Sunday night at the Grammy Awards.
