Bradley Birkenfled, a retired private banker, joins us to discuss his book Lucifer’s Banker: The Untold Story of How I Destroyed Swiss Bank Secrecy, which tells the story of his time working at the UBS in Switzerland, primarily dealing with offshore companies and secret numbered accounts. When he discovered that UBS was planning to betray him, he alerted the US Government helping the US Treasury recover over $15 billion in back taxes, fines, and penalties. He was subsequently arrested and served 30 months in federal prison. Following his release, the IRS gave him a whistleblower award of $104 million.
