Art and Conspiracy in Ukraine

Documentary of the Week | Oct 30, 2015

In The Russian Woodpecker, first-time filmmaker Chad Gracia follows the Ukrainian artist Fedor Alexandrovich as they investigate the mysterious Duga radar, built by the Soviets in the 1970s on the grounds of Chernobyl. The title refers to the weird sound transmitted around the globe from the site. Alexandrovich wonders if there’s some link between the Duga and the nuclear disaster of his childhood.
