Actually, Mr. Maupin may not know that some gay people use opposite gender pronouns. E.g., between some married gay "women", there ARE wives and HUSBANDS...

Last nights episode of 'Brooklyn 99' had all the characters going to a Gay couple's houseparty. Totally mainstream now, decades later.
