How 'The Boyfriend Loophole' Arms Domestic Abusers

The Leonard Lopate Show | Jul 12, 2017

Katie McDonough, a politics reporter at Fusion, joins us to discuss the “boyfriend loophole,” domestic abuse and gun ownership. In the United States, people convicted of misdemeanor domestic abuse are barred from owning guns if they are married to, have children with, or live with their victims. But in 40 states, “the boyfriend loophole” allows people who have abused their dating partner to own weapons. McDonough's latest article on the topic is “Disarm All Domestic Abusers Now.”
