This story was incredibly difficult to find again using google search! Here's are the sentences I was essentially searching for: gay man becomes sperm donor for this friend, then has his own child with his partner, and finds meaning in his mom's saying: "the love you have for your children is unlike any other feeling in the world, and people who don't have children never get to know what it's like".
