Filmmakers Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky  discuss their new film,“Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War.” It tells the story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, a Unitarian minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who left their home and family to carry out life-threatening rescue missions in Europe at the start of World War II. Over two years, they helped to save hundreds of political dissidents and Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis.

"Defying the Nazis" airs on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. on PBS.
