Views on Art host, Ruth Bowman, interviews painter and print maker, Allan D’Arcangelo.
Allan D’Arcangelo, a New York state native, was quickly identified as a Pop Artist upon his emergence onto the New York art scene with his first solo exhibition at Fischbach Gallery in 1963. Bowman asks D’Arcangelo what he thinks about being categorized as such and gains some insight into the artists’ beginnings, his journey to becoming a painter, and the recurring themes of his work, from the American landscape of the highway to “the duplicity of space on canvas.†D’Arcangelo also discusses what he considers to be a discouraging foray into the public art arena via the Public Art Fund’s City Walls project.
