A Documentary About Pete Souza, 'Class Act,' A New Album From The War and Treaty, Broadway Closure News

Director Dawn Porter and former Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza join us to discuss their documentary, “The Way I See It.” Based on Souza’s bestselling book of the same name, it gives a behind the scenes look at his work with presidents Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan.

WNYC planning editor Kate Hinds joins us to discuss the stories the newsroom is following this week.

Newbery Medal-winner Jerry Craft joins us to talk about his latest graphic novel for kids, Class Act , a companion to New Kids, winner of the 2020 Newbery Medal, the Coretta Scott King Author Award, and the Kirkus Prize. This time, it’s Jordan’s friend, Drew, who takes center stage in another funny, powerful, and important story about being one of the few kids of color in a prestigious private school.

The War and Treaty, labelled “one of Nashville’s hottest acts” by Rolling Stone, join us for a listening party for their new album, Hearts Town.

Last week the Broadway League announced that Broadway theatres will remain closed until May 30th, 2021 at the earliest. Michael Paulson, theater reporter at The New York Times, joins us to discuss what the closure means for the city, for those working in the industry, and for the future of New York theater.
