Alice Waters' Journey To Chez Panisse

Alice Waters was 27-years-old when she opened Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Ca. in 1971. The restaurant would go onto redefine American cuisine and influence a whole new generation of chefs. Waters recalls opening the restaurant and its rise in her new memoir, Coming to My Senses: The Making of a Counterculture Cook. Waters also shares how coming of age in the 1960s during the counterculture movement shaped her life and career as a chef.

Alice Waters will appear at BAM's Peter Jay Sharp Building (30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn) on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Alice Waters will co-host a benefit event for The Edible Schoolyard Project and Edible Schoolyard NYC with Jake Gyllenhaal on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Neue Galerie (1048 5th Ave., between E. 85th and 86th St.). Tickets can be purchased here.
