Snuge from Bergen County, NJ

I caught part of your segment in the car about Tuxedo Park NY as a location for a casino, and was shocked. I live in NJ about 15 miles from there and have driven though--slowly I might add since it's a speed trap with a low speed limit. It is a small, wealthy, woodsy, lots of beautiful old stone buildings, kind of place. They are also the home to the elite Tuxedo Park School. Really, the last place that would want the riff raff associated with casinos.

The Bloomberg tenure was an extended episode of "Selling NY"!

Piketty missed it. One way to spread the wealth is for the poor (prostitutes, con artists, casino workers) to steal from the poor and near poor (geriatric day trippers and gamblers). And, we've made it legal. Mr. Adelson is licking his chops.

dboy -
I hope to see real estate sleaze business drop off on a future episode of "Selling NY." Esp. if they change the theme/intro to reflect it.

Just how many casinos can the region support?

(Re: Airbnb good point dboy, one often hears in the "olden days" of renting out ones own home as a last desperate step in holding onto it. Sadly, Airbnb may be a redux.

WHAT?!?!? Sleazy, high-end NYC real estate brokers will have their business drop off???

I'm SO sad!

(For example -- NYC has become popular with rich 3rd worlders, esp. communist, in order to hedge political and environmnetal risk… It would follow that investment in NYC would be INCREASING as Russian -- not to mention Chinese, S. American, etc.-- risk rises. Or perhaps Russian investors have found a better investment opportunity elsewhere in the US or another country? Or they sense some higher US risk?

Screw Schneiderman!!

He can have those records when there's AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN NYC!!!

People use AirBnB to SURVIVE!!

THIS is what it's come to!!

Wealthy russians are holding off on buying multi-million dollar NYC apartments? Boo-F&*kin'-HOO.

SOME segments ???

May. 14 2014 11:20 AM

WNYC has lots of bright interns, reporters and even-toned moral compasses. Some segments are missing the Bob Henneleys, Dan Schorrs, the graybeards who add scope and analysis built over their decades.
