I love walking in NYC. I never plug into an ipod/phone to listen to music, the hustle & bustle, sounds of the city are a big part of the experience for me. And while I almost always have a camera with me many times I take no photos. Although I like to preserve the past, I like to look at construction sites where old buildings are being torn down to see what old advertisements are on the sides of neighboring buildings, hidden from site for years.

I recently read a book called "The Golem and the Jinni"; without going into details the title characters spend a lot of time walking the streets of 1899 NYC and the author does describe the streets in some detail, one of the more interesting parts of the book for me.
