Young Artists Festival

Tuesday, June 08, 2010 - 10:46 AM

Queens Rookies Alexis Gordon and Jessica Cernadas ran the Rookies table at the NYC Young Artists & Leaders Festival on Saturday, June 5th. Downtown Art organized the festival as an opportunity for young artists to show their work and see the creative work being done by others their age.

There were film screenings and performances on three stages simultaneously--with dancers, bands and spoken word.  The organizers also put together a printed guide to the over 60 youth programs in attendance. This is an amazing resource for teen art programs in NYC, check it out. We were blown away by the spoken word performances by Urban Word NYC. You can see these incredible young poets perform for FREE this Saturday, June 12th, 2010 at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe at 3PM. (236 E. 3rd Street btwn Ave B & C)
