Police Investigating: Failed Tasering Ends in Shooting

Monday, October 04, 2010

Police say they are investigating a shooting on Sunday involving four officers and a 24-year-old man in Upper Manhattan.

Police responded to a 911 call and confronted Emmanuel Paulino, who was wielding a knife. Nine witnesses told investigators that Paulino charged at officers, despite repeated commands to stop and drop the knife.

Police first attempted to use a taser against Paulino, but police say Paulino pulled the prongs out of his body. The police then opened fire. Nine shots were fired in total.

The president of the organization Hispanics Across America held a vigil for Paulino Sunday night in front of his home. He said that the incident could have been avoided.

To: Ms True facts. Wow, how could you say that the cop made the right decision! You such an ignorant child, feel sorry for your future. Let me give you some advise poor child, before writing anything to the public do some research, Ms. true facts. you are an naive individual, who refuses like 85% of Americans. The NYPD is TRAINED and PAID from our tax dollars to treat the citizens of New York with respect, professionalism and dignity. More than 25 cops shot at a victim who had a 4 inch knife. Is that commonsense to shot and at someone only because they had a knife, then shoot 20 times and only 9 shots penetrated

The NYPD took a life from this word, humiliated, and traumatized the family and friends of the victim. Are you telling me that the offices did not have other alternatives? there where more than 25 offices who were surrounding the victim. Let me give a few hints. 1) knife sticks 2) water-pressured from the pumps that 99 of NY citizens get tickets for parking in the illegal space to park. 3) Gang tackle with the police shields. 3) another shot from the sting gun. In addition, the police department is trained to handle those type of situations. Why is 95% of police brutally is happening where the minorities reside? Why two white cops started the shooting! why have white cops working where the majority are Hispanics! The cops need to be thrown in jail for life.

To: the racist who claimed to live in the area. Have you been to the heights! I don't think so. Listen you racist, you had a bad experience with a Dominican and got you behind kick, or you were born a racist. "Dominicans have a propensity for violence and believe that whatever confrontation they encounter can only be resolved via violence" Where did you get those statistic! the racists community! or you behind still hurts! The heights is the top growing community in the NY.

People lets not get fooled by the media, the media are amplifying only the negatives. My uncle said to me once fool the right person and the rest will follow.

Truefacts

That is crazy drugs infestated, and a very high crime area. That cop made the right decision. The guy called 911 and asked to send cops; he wants to kill cops. the cop tells him to put the knife down, he refused to follow an order from a law enforcement. Mr. Mateo, frankly, you make no sense. Get off from your political official ego. You lack common sense..

I've been a resident of this neighbourhood for over 30 years. With all due respect, Dominicans need to show restraint and respect not only to law enforcement, but also to their fellow neighbours and strangers.

In my experience, Dominicans have a propensity for violence and believe that whatever confrontation they encounter can only be resolved via violence.

This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated!
