Guest Picks: Barbara Kingsolver

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Barbara Kingsolver stopped by The Leonard Lopate Show to talk about her new novel, The Lacuna, and discussed some of her favorite picks with us.

What have you read or seen lately (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you?

The novels of Claire Kilroy, starting with All Summer. This young Irish writer packs a stunning worldly wisdom into her beautiful prose.

What are you listening to right now?

Leonard Lopate's previous guest.

What’s the last great book you read?

Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel. The Gate at the Stair, Lorrie Moore. And Claire Kilroy (see above). Three-way tie!

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

Country music. Especially the Dixie Chicks.

If you only had one day left, how would you spend it in New York City?

Leaving, for the nearest walk in the woods.
