Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Maynard talks about his time playing with the New York Jets. I always liked Don, even though I grew up a Raider fan. When I was a pre-teen, he broke his leg against the Raiders, and I wrote him a nice letter in the hospital, and he graciously autographed his card for me. He was my favorite receiver after that, forevermore.

I remember if the announcer said I " Namath' fires' the ball" it was almost always caught, you know it would get there and we had some great receivers

Many people forget that Don was a kick returner for the Giants and played in the famous 1958 championship game against the Colts.

As a kid I was a big fan of Don's- he had a brash, anti-authority attitude before it was trendy. Where did he get that from? Does he think the defensive backs are better today? Given the changes in the rules which favor the receiver, how can you compare receivers over the years, and how many more yards would he have compiled. Thanks for the memories! Don Maynard- you were one of the most exciting players of your day, thanks for the memories. With your soft-spoken, hard nosed manner you were a great role model. Thanks...
