After small, family-feeling art organization's reinvention to a more corporate vibe (bringing in former execs from Disney no less), including "more scrutiny" of devoted, faithful workers, removal of perks (morning coffee and bagels), drastic cutting of hours (all below 40 per week, as to justify denial of benefits), I helped to unionize the crew, then timed my departure to coincide with the micro-managing new boss' wedding (no one else on staff could do my job, nor had my expertise, including the boss). I have been happily self employed since.
