More on the BP Oil Spill

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

BP’s well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico exposed multiple weaknesses in our preparations for a major disaster and our regulation of the companies drilling in deep waters.  We will speak with Tad Patzek, Professor and Chair, Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, and Dave Valentine, professor of Geology at UC Santa Barbara. They will discuss the cleanup, the ecological damage it has caused, and how effective the proposed changes to rules and regulations will be in preventing future disasters.

So you're saying the casing of the seating of the seal on the pressure head released the methane through the riser at the wrong PSI RIK level to explode the riser pipe through the whole rig?

If that was all methane, basically that area must have smelled like a giant fart, right?

Sure, they had to displace the seawater through the well bore, Jim! With the pressure readings from the hydropanprotector, you couldn't foresee a blowout without readings off at least a radiohydromoter, let alone a preventer or oxorelease valve!!!!!

The very fact that they call it a "spill" shows you the journalists are not paying attention. This inexactitude never would have been tolerated in the 60s and 70s by any journalist, even one who got her degree from the back of a magazine.

How can you call it a spill? Wasn't it a gusher? Hey what happened to the relief well being done?
