The L.A.-based, vintage-flavored, folk rock band Dawes actually began as the post-punk outfit Simon Dawes. But after the departure of one of the group's members, the group altered their name and adopted the rootsy Laurel Canyon sound of artists such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Neil Young. This track, from the band's debut LP North Hills, is full of ruminative lyrics and warm harmonies that soar above rolling, country-esque guitar and gently rumbling bass.
