Ford Foundation Initiative to Create New Spaces for Arts

The Ford Foundation has launched a 10-year, $100 million dollar initiative intended to create new spaces for the arts.  So far, the foundation's Supporting Diverse Art Spaces program has already awarded a $1 million grant to turn an abandoned high school in East Harlem into artist housing and a hub for community arts.  The foundation says the support of the arts was even more vital during this economic downturn.
