Meet the Mayor of Columbia Street, Brooklyn.

We know, we know, Mike Bloomberg is the mayor of New York, and Cory Booker presides over Newark, New Jersey. But we’re talking more local than that! So ... we want to find the Mayor of the Block, your block!

Danielle Cyr from Carroll Gardens nominated three people to be mayors of her block. She introduces WNYC’s Arun Venugopal to Rocco, Angelo, and Ed, the mayors of Columbia Street in Brooklyn.

What is a 'Mayor of the Block' you ask?

He/She is that beloved character who’s been in the neighborhood forever, who knows everyone, who always seems to be right there watching over the sidewalk, and in some way…helps make your block what it is.

So, who’s your mayor? Get involved!

Help us make the next segment of MOTB (Mayor of the Block)! Nominate the a character here.
